Grown-up vacation: Day 1

After a short drive to Ocean Springs and a long lunch with my dear friend, Glenn, I met up with Melissa and her niece, Rachel. Rachel is visiting this week from Wisconsin.

We had a whirlwind evening, trying to meet up with as many friends as we could in one night.

Not a bad turnout. We started off with margaritas at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Saltillo, with some awesome chips and salsa. No dinner there tonight, though. I was still pretty much full from lunch. Had to move on to the next place, Porter Avenue Bistro.

Randy was there, and a few of my former colleagues (and friends) showed up for our little gathering. Andrea and Alex also hung out with us for awhile. Jerry, who doesn’t often get out, came out, too, so that was a nice surprise for Melissa.  Glenn showed up — in typical Glenn fashion, whatever that may be, lol.

Needless to say, we had a great time!

After awhile we started getting hungry, so ended up at Applebee’s for a late-night supper. Food was really good.

Re-energized, we decided to go for some karaoke at Castaways and got invited to play foosball by Will, a Castaways karaoke regular, he says.

That was a lot of fun, and we heard some really good singers.

We wrapped up the evening (or early morning) by watching home movies from years gone by … it’s been a few years since I’ve seen those movies. My kids were so young then. For that matter, so was I!

Here’s to girls on vacation!
