I guess I’m the Pied Piper of Petal

Tonight I took the dogs for a walk. It was later than usual and pretty dark.

As I was getting ready to turn another corner, I heard a cat meowing methodically. It sounded really strange, and I didn’t know what it was at first.

But the cat was not far off in the distance – I got a glimpse of it as it streaked toward us briefly and then ran away.

John Doe ran up to the kitten, and then I realized it was one of Fiona’s stray kittens, Nermal.

I tried to catch him to take him home but he ran off again.

So I thought he would follow us back home and turned around to head back home.

As we got a little closer, I saw another cat lurking in the shadows. It was Rusty. And following close behind him was Catbird.

Oh boy. I’m glad I turned our walk back around.

I feel bad for the dogs who didn’t get their full running around today, but at least the cats are safe and at home.

The cats followed us back to the house, where all ended very well.

I felt like the Pied Piper – but this one lives in Petal.
