I volunteer with the March of Dimes, and each year we host a Signature Chefs event where local chefs showcase their finest creations. The event also features silent and live auctions, and a live entertainment.
Last year The Glitter Boys performed and everyone had a rockin’ good time. I hear they’ll be back again this year.
But it takes a lot of work to get there. Planning for the next one starts almost immediately after the event ends!
We’re pretty organized. Checklists come out. Assignments are made. And we hit the ground running. It may be a lot of work, but we have a great time doing this. We get together once a month to go over what we’ve accomplished so far, make plans for the next month and go on from there.
Why do we do this? Mississippi has one of the highest rates of premature birth in the nation. Premature birth can result in all sorts of health problems for the baby, and a lot of stress for the parents.
And money raised locally stays locally.
This year’s theme is Viva, Las Baby! We’ve got a lot of fun things planned. I hope you can join us.
