For a change of pace, try turnip green pesto

Turnip green pesto

I love the bright color of steamed greens, and they look perfect on a holiday or party table with a variety of hors d’ouevres. I made this batch of pesto for an art reception. It went over well with vegans and non-vegans alike.

Turnip green pesto
1 pound fresh turnip greens, chopped
1/4 cup toasted pecans
1 garlic clove
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
6 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
Zest of 1/2 orange
1 tablespoon honey

Steam turnip greens for about five minutes. Dry the greens well. Place greens and remaining ingredients in a food processor and pulse until desired texture is reached. Chill and serve with pita chips or fresh-baked bread.
